Sergey Brin Returns to Google to Drive AI Innovations
Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google and former president of Alphabet, has rejoined the tech giant, declaring he’s back in action at Google “pretty much every day.” His motivation? The exhilarating advancements in artificial intelligence that he doesn’t want to overlook.
Brin shared this exciting update in an interview during this week’s All-In Summit held in Los Angeles. While previous reports suggested his involvement in AI projects at Google HQ last year, this conversation marks the first occasion Brin has openly discussed his renewed engagement with the company.
Describing the AI sector as a “big, fast-moving field,” Brin expressed his belief in the “tremendous value to humanity” that AI provides. He also shared his perspective on the future of AI development, indicating that he doesn’t agree with the notion that creating more advanced AI necessitates a significant increase in computing power.
“I’ve read some articles that extrapolate [compute] … and I don’t know if I’m quite a believer,” he stated, adding that the algorithmic improvements observed over the past few years might even be surpassing the growth in computing resources being allocated to these models.
