Apple Unveils iPhone 16 and AI-Powered Updates at Annual Event

Apple’s highly anticipated annual event has commenced, introducing the iPhone 16 lineup alongside numerous AI innovations for iOS 18. With Apple Intelligence set to take the spotlight once again, reminiscent of its prominent role at WWDC in June, the event also highlights expected hardware launches, including new Apple Watches, AirPods, and Macs. Streaming live from its Cupertino headquarters, Apple’s “Glowtime” event started at 10 a.m. PT, and the livestream is still available to watch.

As we await the outcomes of Monday’s presentations, it remains unclear whether these announcements will spark a “supercycle” in consumer adoption of the new iPhone 16 models. However, Apple’s commitment to leveraging AI as a fundamental aspect of its marketing strategy is unmistakable. We’ll continue to provide updates as the Apple event progresses and as more information comes out from demo rooms and briefings held after the event.

Introducing the Apple Watch Series 10

Apple initiated the event by celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Watch with the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 10. The new edition features several enhancements, including a refined design with rounded corners and an upgraded aspect ratio, boasting Apple’s inaugural wide-angle OLED displays. The Series 10’s screen is now up to 40 percent brighter from an angle, while the watch itself is the slimmest yet at 9.7mm and approximately 10 percent lighter than its predecessors.

AI technology once again makes an appearance in the Apple Watch Series 10, showcasing a new photos watch face that utilizes AI to select which images are displayed, in addition to machine learning tools to enhance translation features.

Moreover, updates to watchOS will allow Apple Watches to detect sleep apnea, pending FDA approval. This feature will be available for both the Series 10 and Series 9 models. The Apple Watch Series 10 is set to start at $399, with a launch date of September 20.
